Hamilton Construction Ltd. began our renovations reasonably well. However, it soon became apparent that the contractor was not good at managing a project of this size. Hours billed to the customer for the contractor's time became excessive, given that the customer was doing much of the organizing of subtrades and materials. A contractor should not be a delivery person - they must manage the project, arrange for materials in a timely manner, supervise the work to ensure timely and cost efficient completion, and, most of all, not blame the customer for everything. It is important that the contractor understand that renovations are a personal expense to the owner and the owner expects good quality work, not second rate. This contractor, with 26 years experience, has a lot to learn! In addition, he advertises his services as R-2000 licenced but does not show up on the list of qualified and licenced R-2000 builders. Bottomline: over billing for services performed. Not recommended for a large project.
